Use Uttapam Emoji to keep yourself and your family to stay happy and healthy….Uttapam a south Indian breakfast which is not only preferred in South India but all over the horizon, its a healthy breakfast as it is made of dal and rice, important pulses for our body and its helps in weight loss keeping you full for long thereby curbs your urge to have munchies, above all the fermentation process enhances the nutrients in it, most important part is that we tend to miss our breakfast in hurry which is the most important meal, but unfortunately lot of work in the morning leads to having a little breakfast, munching or sometimes no breakfast. Uttapam is a recipe that solves your problem as it is very easy, simple and a quick recipe. You can keep the batter for 2-3 days and use it as it remains fresh, all you need is take out a batter, put it in a pan and cook it in 3-5 min and eat..
It works a an instant ready to cook batter available in market but those are not preferred as always homemade food is better and has no preservatives…so quickly pen down the recipe..
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Things to collect:
2 cups rice washed properly
1 cup skinned and spilt black gram (urad dal) washed properly
salt to taste
oil (olive oil or ghee)
Soak rice and dal separately overnight.
Drain the excess water
Make a smooth batter by grinding both of them in small portions and adding little water, add more water as required so that the batter is not too thick.
Allow it to ferment for 4-5 hours, add little salt.
In a pan add a ladle of batter, sprinkle some oil, top it with onion or veggies of your choice and cook on a medium flame, it need not be crispy as dosa.
Serve with ketchup, coconut chutney or any chutney of your choice or a simple curd.
Enjoy the breakfast or you can eat it as a supper also..
